Asian cricket council (ACC) delegation headed by Mr. Ashraf ul Huq, Chief Executive with Mr. Bandula Warnapura, Development Manager and Mr. Iqbal Sikander, Development Officer and Saudi Cricket Council Chief Executive Officer, Nadeem Nadwi visited different parts of the Kingdom in March, 2010. They had also visited Eastern Province to meet the Executive Committee of the Eastern Province Cricket Association.
On behalf of the EPCA Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Naimi the president of EPCA arranged a dinner for the visiting delegation in the Ramada Hotel Al-Khobar. There were some dignitaries of the Eastern Province, EPCA Sponsors, honorable guests, senior cricketers and national players of EPCA attended. Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Naimi welcomed the ACC delegation; he briefed the attendees about the developments and thanked everyone for their support and coordination with EPCA. Al-Naimi also briefed ACC delegation about the EPCA’s calendar of events and thanked them for their support. He urged that everyone should work together and make it a successful association in the Kingdom. He also said that it was indeed a pleasure and honor to be associated with Saudi Cricket Council and ACC for the betterment of cricket in Saudi Arabia. He thanked EPCA committee members for working hard.
Mr. Abul Hassan the General Secretary of EPCA introduced EPCA and Ex-Com members, sponsors and EPCA well wishers to the ACC delegates. He had briefed the history of EPCA and also explained the current activities and future development plans specially formation of cricket Academy and Grassy ground with Turf wickets in this region. Mr. Fayyaz Aslam Sheikh offered a land in Al-Khobar where two grounds and the Academy shall be developed.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Ashraf ul Huq, Chief Executive, praised the efforts of EPCA in promoting cricket in the Eastern province. He encouraged the association to keep on promoting the game of cricket. According to him, ACC would always be in the forefront in promoting cricket in the kingdom. He assured EPCA of his continued support to the EPCA. He promised full support from Asian Cricket Council by providing financial support and facilities to develop cricket grounds with turf wickets and cricket academy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Ashraf ul Huq urged that cricket should be introduced to school level and to promote the game of cricket in the local community, so that the future of cricket improves in this part of the world.
All sponsors and their representatives and honorable guests also spoke briefly and assured their support to EPCA in future. EPCA also presented special appreciation shield to Mr. Ashraf ul Huq, Chief Executive, Asian Cricket council. |
